How Away Hours Work in Flowace?

Away Hours let users add a reason for time spent away from the desk, such as a lunch break, a training session, or a meeting. Admins define the list of Away Types available and mark each type as productive or unproductive, so reports reflect what actually happened during that time, not just a generic idle label.

How it works?

• Admin sets up Away Types, for example Lunch Break, Training, and Meetings.
• Admin marks each Away Type as productive or unproductive.
• Admin sets an inactivity threshold, for example 10 consecutive minutes with no activity.
• When a user returns to their desk after crossing that threshold, a pop-up asks them to classify the time away.
• The selected time is recorded as Away Hours under that type, and counted as Productive or Unproductive Away Hours based on how the Admin labelled the type.

Examples :

Scenario

Why

User steps away for a 2-hour training session, 10-minute threshold

2 hours logged as Away Hours under Training, counted as Productive Away Hours

Training is marked as a productive Away Type by the Admin

User steps away for a 1-hour lunch break, 10-minute threshold

1 hour logged as Away Hours under Lunch, counted as Unproductive Away Hours

Lunch is marked as an unproductive Away Type by the Admin

Note :Away Hours uses the same inactivity threshold concept as Idle Time. The difference is that Away Hours asks the user for a reason, so the time is classified as Productive or Unproductive Away Hours instead of just Idle. See the related Idle Time article for how the base threshold and detection work. |

Setting up Away Types

• Go to Admin Settings > Productivity Ratings > Away Types.
• Add Away Types relevant to your organization, for example Lunch Break, Training, Meetings.
• Mark each Away Type as productive or unproductive.
• Set the inactivity threshold that triggers the away classification pop-up.
• Save your settings.

Show Away Prompt After setting (top right) in Admin Settings > Timesheet & Monitoring, alongside Idle Alert, Idle Interval, and Idle Time Cap.
