How Does Keyboard and Mouse Activity Tracking Work in Flowace?
Flowace offers tracking of keyboard and mouse activity while time is being monitored through the Flowace desktop application. The application records whether there is activity on the keyboard and mouse, with each screenshot showing the level of usage for both.
Flowace is not a keylogger software. We strictly do not track which specific keys are pressed, as we respect user privacy. Instead, we count how often any key is pressed or the mouse is moved. Each screenshot captures the percentage of keyboard and mouse activity, helping you stay on track without infringing on personal data.
1. Go to Admin Settings:
Log in to your Flowace account.
Click on Admin Settings located on the left menu.

Navigate to Company Settings:
From the Company Settings dropdown, select Configuration

Enable Keyboard & Mouse Tracking:
Turn on the toggle button labelled Capture Keyboard & Mouse Events.

View Keyboard and Mouse Activity in Screenshots:
Return to the main menu and click on Screenshots on the left-hand side.

Use the search bar to locate the user by name.

Click on the timings displayed under each screenshot to view the keyboard and mouse activity levels.

Below each screenshot, two icons represent usage percentages

The mouse icon indicates the percentage of mouse activity.
The keyboard icon indicates the percentage of keyboard activity.
This setup provides a quick overview of activity levels, helping ensure productive and focused work sessions in Flowace.
Here’s how Flowace measures activity over a 60-second period for the keyboard, mouse, or both together:
Every 5 seconds, Flowace checks for activity separately in three areas: keyboard, mouse, and overall (a combination of both).
Each 5-second period is marked as “Active” if it detects any movement in the specific category (keyboard or mouse). If there’s no activity, it’s marked as “Inactive” for that category.
Over a 60-second period, there are 12 checks in total (60 seconds divided by 5). Flowace records each instance of activity for the keyboard, mouse, and overall.
After 60 seconds, Flowace calculates the activity percentage separately for each category by comparing the number of active instances with the total 12 checks:
Keyboard Activity Percentage: based on active keyboard instances only.
Mouse Activity Percentage: based on active mouse instances only.
Overall Activity Percentage: based on any activity detected in either keyboard, mouse, or both.
This breakdown gives you a clear picture of how much time was spent using the keyboard, mouse, or both within a given minute. For example, if there were 6 active keyboard instances and 4 active mouse instances, you’d see separate activity percentages for each.
