How to Create and Assign Projects & Tasks?

Title: How to Create & Assign Projects and Tasks

Overview

You’ll create a hierarchical structure:

  • Client (L1)

 ↳ Project / Sub‑Client (L2)

  ↳ Task (L3)

Then assign tasks to users. This guide walks through each step.

Step‑by‑Step Instructions:

1. Create the Client (L1 level)

  • Navigate to the Tasks section (menu or sidebar)

  • Click Client (or “Add Client / New Client”)

  • Enter the L1 name (e.g. “Client A”)

  • Click Save

Now you have a top‑level “Client” in the system.

2. Create a Project or Sub‑Client (L2 level)

  • In Tasks, click Project (or “Add Project / New Project”)

  • In the “Client”/“Parent” dropdown, select the L1 client you created in step 1

  • Enter the L2 name (name of the project or sub‑client)

  • Click Save

This L2 entity becomes a child under the L1 client.

3. Create a Task (L3 level) and Assign It

  • Go to Tasks Task (or “Add Task / New Task”)

  • In the “Client / Project” or “Parent” field, select the L2 you just created

  • Enter the L3 name (task name / title)

  • Click Add Task / **Continue / **OK
  • In the assignment field, select the user(s) to whom you want to assign this task

  • Click Save

Additional Tips & Best Practices:

  • Hierarchy & Clarity

Use consistent naming so that it's obvious which client, project, and task belong together (e.g. “Client A – Project X – Task Y”).

  • Permissions & Visibility

Ensure that users have permission to see the client, project, and task levels. If not, they won’t be able to access assigned tasks.
