Overview of General Settings
General Settings – Organisation Configuration
Applies to: Admin users who manage global settings for your workspace.
Purpose
This article explains how to set up your organisation’s general settings under Admin › Settings › Default Settings › General Settings. These settings affect time zone, working hours, weekly offs, calendar type and module names for your organisation.
Before You Start
- Only users with Administrator privileges can make these changes.
- Important: “Changes will only apply to new users. Existing users will retain their current settings.”
- Review your organisation’s time-zone, work hours and module naming conventions before doing this.
Step-by-Step Configuration:
1. Log in to the website and navigate to General Settings
- Log in with an Admin account.
- Go to Settings → Admin Settings → Default Settings → General Settings.

2. Change Organisation Time Zone
- Locate the Organisation Time Zone dropdown.

- Choose the correct time zone for your organisation (e.g., UTC+06:00, Indian/Chagos).
3. Set Organisation Calendar Type
- Find the Organisation Calendar dropdown.

- Choose the appropriate calendar type:
- Financial Year
- Calendar Year
- Select whichever aligns with your organisation’s reporting / fiscal period.
4. Configure Weekly Off Days
- You will see two columns: Even Week and Odd Week.

- For each week-type, select the days your organisation observes as off. For example:
- Even Week: Friday (F)
- Odd Week: Friday (F)
- If different teams/users have custom weekly offs, click Configure for teams/users to set per-team or per-user exceptions.
5. Define Organisation Work Time
- Under Organisation Work Time, set the start time and end time.

- Example: From 10:00 am to 07:00 pm
- This defines default working hours for your organisation (for timesheets, monitoring, etc.).
6. (Optional) Rename Modules
- Toggle the Rename Modules switch if your organisation wants to change the display-names of modules.

- Under the Section / Display Name list, you may update names such as:SectionDisplay NameL1GroupL2ClientL3MatteremployeeMembernarrationNarrationtaskTasksubtaskSubTasktimesheetActivity LogsmanagerActivity Log
- After editing, check how these modules appear in the user interface to ensure clarity for users.
7. Save Changes
- Once you’ve made all desired changes, click Save to apply.
- If you decide not to proceed, click Cancel to discard.
What Happens After Changes
- The new settings will apply only to new users created after the change.
- Existing user accounts will continue using their previous settings until updated individually.
- Module renames will reflect in the UI globally (for new and existing users) once saved.
Best Practices & Tips
- Coordinate with your HR/Operations team to confirm official working hours, weekly offs and time zones before making changes.
- If your organisation spans multiple regions, consider whether you need to create team-specific settings via “Configure for teams/users”.
- When renaming modules, choose terms your users recognise to avoid confusion.
- Review this configuration when your organisation’s fiscal year, work hours or weekly-off policy changes.
