Use this article when the Flowace app on a Mac will not open, shows “No Permission”, loses its menu-bar icon, or does not start by itself. Each problem below lists the likely cause and the fix.

Before you start

Most fixes use the Terminal app. Open Terminal, paste a command, then press Enter.

Some fixes are different for the two versions of the app. Where they differ, both full commands are written out. Use the one that matches the version you installed.

Install and open

“App is damaged” or the app won’t open
The cause is usually a quarantine flag that macOS adds to a downloaded app. One command removes it.

  1. Open Terminal. Open the Terminal app.
  2. Paste the command for your version. Use the Flowace app command or the Plugin app command below.
  3. Press Enter

Flowace app (XMI)

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Flowace.app

Plugin app (XMS)

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Plugin.app

Example - Flowace App (XMI) - The quarantine command

Install fails on an older Mac
The app needs macOS 10.13 or newer. If the install fails, check your macOS version and upgrade macOS.

The app quits and reopens once after install
This is normal. The app is handing off to auto-start. No action is needed.

Permissions

Browser URLs are blank
Activity shows, but the browser URLs are empty. URL tracking reads the browser’s history files, so the app needs disk access.

  1. Open System Settings. Go to Privacy & Security.
  2. Choose Full Disk Access.
  3. Switch on the app. Turn on the Flowace app, or the Plugin app if that is the version you installed.

Full Disk Access, with the app switched on

“No Permission” entries even after granting permissions
A stale macOS permission cache can keep the old state. Reset each permission, then grant it again.

  1. Open Terminal. Open the Terminal app.
  2. Run the necessary commands for your version. Paste each one, then press Enter.
  3. Open the app again.
  4. Turn the permissions back on. In System Settings › Privacy & Security, turn Screen Recording, Accessibility and Input Monitoring back ON for the app.

Flowace app (XMI) — run the commands

tccutil reset ScreenCapture com.flowace.app
tccutil reset Accessibility com.flowace.app
tccutil reset ListenEvent com.flowace.app

Plugin app (XMS) — run the commands

tccutil reset ScreenCapture com.plugin.app
tccutil reset Accessibility com.plugin.app
tccutil reset ListenEvent com.plugin.app

The Privacy & Security List

If a line says "failed"
Grant Full Disk Access to the Terminal app in Privacy & Security, then run the command again.

Startup, menu bar and accuracy

Login Items shows Flowace Technologies Pvt Ltd switched off
The background permission is off, so the app will not start by itself.

  1. Open Login Items. Find Flowace Technologies Pvt Ltd under Allow in the Background.
  2. Switch it on. Turn Allow in the Background ON, or the app won’t auto-start.

Allow in the Background, switched on

Menu-bar icon is missing but the app is running
This applies to the Flowace app. The icon may be hidden in a crowded menu bar.

  1. Quit and reopen Flowace.
  2. Check the menu bar. Make sure it isn’t full.

The app restarts in a loop, or the Dock icon flickers
An old startup configuration is left over. Write to support@flowace.ai and describe what you see.

Activity times are wrong after sleep or lock
An older build can record the wrong times. Update the app.
